The Erasmus 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life. All of these echo our school mission statement and the DDLETB values of community. care, respect, equality and excellence in education.
Erasmus supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also:
- supports the European Pillar of Social Rights
- implements the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027
- develops the European dimension in sport
We are very happy to be part of this programme and grateful for the support of Erasmus, Leargas and our DDLETB network of schools.
How has MSCC embedded Erasmus+ opportunities for our students?
Taking part in the Erasmus+ programme is an incredible opportunity for our students, teachers and our school. We have engaged in many aspects of Erasmus+ programme over the last 2 years and of course this academic year. This includes:
- E-twinning projects with schools across Europe to develop inclusion, cultural understanding and language development
- Mobility to Cambils, Spain for our very lucky group of Second year students. Read more about it here: and here:
- Hosting a preparatory visit from colleagues in Spain and Malta, preparing for student visits and also work shadowing in November 2024
- We are preparing to welcome a group of French students to join us in March 2025 for a week
- We are also preparing to host young people from Spain and Malta in the spring term, as part of a reciprocal visit learning all about Irish education and culture.
You can see lots of photos below of our adventures so far.
The team who have brought this together for our community:
Thank you to Mr Penon our Erasmus Coordinator for all his hard work shaping the vision and overseeing this offer for our community in MSCC.
Thank you to Mr Foyle, Mr Heffernan, Ms Byrne and Mr Ferguson for their support with organising and facilitating student mobilities and guests to our school and country.
Thanks to all our wider staff who have gotten involved in our mobilities, visits and supported in other ways. It is a team effort and as always, team spirit shines through at MSCC.
Enormous thanks to Priscilla Kirwan, Erasmus Development Officer at DDLETB who has been an enormous support to everyone at MSCC throughout our Erasmus journey, encouraging all to make the best of this opportunity and providing timeline, practical support.
We look forward to gaining so much more from this key partnership in the year ahead!
