Mr Doyle, our School Chaplain & Year Head to Third Years hosted our annual Welcome Ceremony at the college today.
The occasion saw First Years, their tutors, parents, family and members of the leadership, teaching and support team gather in the hall to officially mark the start of each young person's next chapter as a member of the MSCC community.
The ceremony recognised and celebrated all faiths represented, through poetry, prayers and blessings. We were delighted to welcome Reverend Canon William Deverell, Church of Ireland to join the ceremony.
We also celebrated the launch of the 'CAIRDE' mentoring programme - with Fifth and Sixth Year's making their public pledge to 'Mol do chara', looking after First Years as they settle into their new life. Ms O Connor, Year Head to First Years, shared encouraging words and Ms Doody, Home School Liaison reinforced the importance of the parent-school relationship. The whole group enjoyed two performances from our popular rock band amidst the reflections.
Thank you Mr Doyle, Ms Troy, Mr Heffernan, Ms Burns and all the members of our team who attended and shaped the morning's event so well.
We hope all First Years took away just how loved and welcomed they are to our school!
