Our Sixth year students enjoyed a performance of National Theatre's Production of King Lear, performed by Ian Mc Kelland.
Cast in contemporary setting and costume, the play provided our students with an insight into the experience of being part of an Elizabethan audience. It also enhanced their understanding of the play and gave an effective insight into stagecraft.
At 3 hours and 10 minutes in length with no interval, our 6th years were excellent in behaviour and staying power. King Lear is a Single Text on the Literature Paper 2.
Thanks to the school for subsidising the cost of King Lear and our comparative film, Small Things Like these which allowed the students to experience the Irish Film Institute and encourage them to venture there themselves.
